Can Science Explain Everything? (Audio)

  • 299

MIT physicist Ian Hutchinson contends that the currently fashionable notion that science can explain everything, or scientism - an idea that is being sold to the general public - is suffocating not only religion and even science, but reason as well. Dr. Hutchinson explores how the error of scientism arose, how it undermines truth, and how it feeds today's culture wars.

Hutchinson is a plasma physicist and Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT. In addition to authoring 200 research articles and a textbook about plasma physics, Hutchinson has written and spoken widely on the relationship between science and Christianity. His most recent book is Monopolizing Knowledge.
