Worshiping the State (Audio)
Benjamin Wiker unpacks how secular government has become our god:
Many are aware that the secular worldview has somehow established itself as the default position of the state. As a consequence, Christianity has been driven out of the public square and made into an entirely private, even subjective religion with nothing to say about how we should live, what view of morality our laws should reflect, or what our schools should teach.
Is this privatizing of religion - often undertaken in supposed obedience to the "Establishment Clause" - simply a way for the secular worldview to establish itself as our state religion? How has the gap between the sacred and secular widened over history - and what does it mean for us today?
